Birth to Three can help you support the health and development of your child. If your child has a disability or medical condition that is causing developmental delays, this program can connect them with the help they need.
Birth to Three services in Connecticut are built around three key principles. Children receive services in environments where they live, learn and play; parents learn how to problem solve and plan to meet their child’s developmental and learning needs; and families are assigned a single contact as their primary support.
The first step is to schedule an appointment for your child to be evaluated, which you can do by calling the state’s Child Development Infoline at 800-505-7000. After your child has been evaluated, a Birth to Three team member will work with you to provide the services and supports that your child needs.
Birth to Three services are offered in-home, at child care facilities and through other community providers, depending on your child’s individual needs. As part of the process, an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) will be created to record your child’s goals and progress.
Once your child has completed the Birth to Three program, the provider will work with you to create a transition plan and connect you with any resources needed for ongoing support.
